Road2VC — Reset and get back to it

Hello VCs and aspiring VCs! Hope you are all well and staying safe during this pandemic.

Wow, can’t believe it’s been over two months since my last post. Have you all been crushing it during the pandemic? I can’t personally say that I have completely, however, I’ve been using this time as a much needed reset in my life. Going from having 0 time for myself and always running around, to all the time in the world staying inside, this pandemic had allowed me to reconnect with loved ones (virtually) and myself. I imagine that you all are experiencing similar things happening in your life (unless you’re on the front line, for which I am eternally grateful).

Since the last time we spoke, you’ll be happy to know that I’ve crossed off all of my goals that have been mentioned in my previous posts, including one major one. Getting my foot int the door with a regional venture firm with a global presence. Unfortunately things did not turn out the way that I would have anticipated in the end, however, the experience that I’ve gained from the discussion is invaluable. The lessons that I’ve learned over the last few months working with Leandro and understanding my personal passions have been instrumental in helping me figure out where I want to take my career. However, with the pandemic, I quickly realized that consistency is critical. Since the last time I’ve posted, I can say that I’ve struggled to find postings of firms looking for associates, and it may be because the pandemic is causing a ripple effect in the economy, shuttering plenty of the firms and retail fronts alike.

How are all of you doing during the pandemic? Moreso specifically how have you continued to crush your goals that you have set for yourself this year? Since my last post and discussion, I have had minimal interactions with firms but have spent time doing due diligence trying to understand what makes a good investment and how it aligns with the firm’s thesis, dependent on the firm, just as a starting point.

I’d like to keep this post short and sweet, just to get back into the swing of things. I do have some good content planned for the next few weeks and will continue to work to remain consistent. Also, look out for future posts where I will be doing give-a-ways on some VC specific items and learnings that I’ve come across during my time at home.

With that being said, I trust you all are remaining safe and sane. Keep yourselves active and really think about the best ways you could care for yourself, even if it means going on a couple of months hiatus. I look forward to seeing and hearing from you all very soon!
